More about Victor Diaz Cabrera

Victor Diaz Cabrera is a high qualified classroom teacher at Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School on the island of Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). He has been an 8th grade teacher of Career and Technical Education: Exploring Agriculture from 2010 to present. Prior to teaching at Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School, he taught 6th grade students at William S. Reyes Elementary School for five years. Mr. Cabrera received his master’s degree in International Teacher from Framingham State University (formerly Framingham State College) in 2010. In 1999, he received his bachelor's degree in business administration/international business from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. He attended Northern Marianas College in Saipan, CNMI from 1996 to 1997 and received an associate's degree in business marketing as well as business management. He is a high school alumnus of Mount Carmel School in Saipan, CNMI. Mr. Cabrera was recognized by the Northern Mariana Islands Humanities Council as the 2018 Teacher of the Year. This prestigious award is given to the outstanding teacher who makes a great impact and contribution to the local community. As a classroom teacher, Mr. Cabrera provides his students with meaningful and hands-on learning activities in gardening and farming, all the while promoting self-sufficiency and food security for the island community. In 2011, Mr. Cabrera also co-founded Hopwood Dance and Music Production, a performing arts club that provides his students with a medium to express their artistic talents and showcase them to various communities.
