2020 Teacher of the Year:
Cecilia Chung
Cecilia “CC” Chung currently teaches at Kaimiloa Elementary School in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. For the past two years, she worked as a technology integration coach for grades K-6. She grew up on Oahu and then attended the University of Southern California (USC), where she received her bachelor of art degree in international relations and a bachelor of art degree in public relations. She continued her education at the Johns Hopkins University (JHU), where she received her master of science degree in educational studies. In an effort to share professional development with all, Chung has led and facilitated a variety of workshops for educators and the education community; including, but not limited to, being a featured presenter at Kamehameha Schools EdTech Conference, Schools of the Future Conference, and EdCamp for West Oahu. As a Hope Street Group Teacher Fellow, she has facilitated numerous data collections and focus groups for state-wide reports and worked as one of the planning lead for a complex-wide teacher conference called “Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching” (ECET2). She is a strong believer in the importance of elevating and celebrating teachers, encouraging teachers to tell their stories via platforms like Twitter and written articles. She also completed a summer fellowship at the Hawaii Department of Education Office of Human Resources, where she helped to create video tutorials for incoming teachers. She is a self-proclaimed foodie and edtech enthusiast! Chat with her on Twitter @mschung808!
