2020 Teacher of the Year:
Teresa Beilstein
Teresa Beilstein, or Miss B, as she is known to her students, teaches third grade at South Shore Elementary School in Crownsville, Maryland. Beilstein began teaching seven years ago after earning a bachelor of arts in economics from Loyola University Maryland, a master of science in organizational psychology from Walden University and a master of arts in teaching from Walden University. As an educator in an International Baccalaureate school, Beilstein focuses on developing relationships with each of her students. Those relationships are the cornerstone of her teaching practice. As a leader in Anne Arundel County, Beilstein has developed and implemented science curriculum and assessments aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards used throughout Anne Arundel County’s 80 elementary schools. Beilstein values lifelong learning and in 2018 earned National Board Certification and currently serves as a learning facilitator for other National Board candidates. Beilstein regularly participates in professional development and leadership opportunities throughout the county and state. As Maryland Teacher of the Year, Beilstein works to bring awareness to the diverse needs of our student population and celebrate the work of teachers around the state.
