More about Jonah Gumataotao

Jonah Gumataotao is a seventh grade social studies teacher and the chief advisor of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) at Agueda I. Johnston Middle School. She has been a middle school teacher with the Guam Department of Education for nine years. She is passionate about reaching all learners, including English language learners and students with special needs, and works diligently to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all of her students. Gumataotao is interested in discovering new ways to connect the classroom with the local community and works to instill in her students and NJHS members the importance of serving the island. As a social studies teacher, her goals are to encourage students to keep an open mind about different cultures and be inspired to someday travel the world. Gumataotao holds a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and a Master of Education in Special Education from the University of Guam.
