Kayla Delzer
Kayla Delzer is a third-grade teacher at Mapleton Elementary School in Mapleton, North Dakota, technology champion, speaker, author, and CEO. Her blog, TopDogTeaching.com, is approaching 2 million views, and her social media accounts @topdogteaching boast more than 121,000 followers.
She has ten years of teaching experience in second and third grade. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in in Elementary Education from the University of North Dakota (UND). She's the recipient of the Sioux Award, the highest honor of achievement offered by UND Alumni Association.
North Dakota's Gov. Doug Burgum has recognized Delzer for her contributions to education in North Dakota and made her a member of North Dakota's Innovative Education Taskforce and leader of the Teacher Preparation Committee.
She's recognized as an International Society for Technology in Education Influencer, "Amazon Influencer", "HarperCollins Publishing Influencer", and one of just 30 PBS "All-Star Digital Innovators" in the U.S. The New York Times named her "one of the savviest teachers in the United States."
In addition to teaching, Delzer travels globally as a keynote speaker. On July 23, 2015, she delivered a TEDx Talk, "Reimagining Classrooms: Students as Leaders and Teachers as Learners," which surpassed 248,000 views and changed the way schools define education.
Her work with classroom redesign and flexible seating is becoming a standard in many schools, and Delzer was selected as a recipient of the Global Hundred Award, designating her as one of the top hundred innovative educators worldwide. She is currently writing a book titled “FlexED: Flexible Seating for Flexible Learners.” She is the co-author of Education Write Now (Dec. 2017).
