The COVID-19 pandemic has tested education systems like never before, ushering in an unprecedented level of federal funding for K-12 education.

As the 2021-2022 school year comes to a close, state education leaders want to ensure students can continue learning, through a variety of camps and other enrichment opportunities, when school is out of session over the summer.

Aided by a historic federal investment, state and local education systems are transitioning from responding to the immediate urgency of the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic to implementing prevention and academic recovery strategies.  

As school leaders work to support students in accelerating learning after school building closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one important lever is high-quality curriculum.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, America’s teachers have stepped up through constant challenges and changes to support students and ensure continued access to learning and essential peer and adult relationships.

In recognition of the monumental disruptions to school systems and the students they serve caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, members of Congress appropriated approximately $200 billion in aid for schools throughout 2020 and 2021.
