Washington, D.C. (March 11, 2024) – Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Chief Executive Officer Carissa Moffat Miller released the following statement on Washington D.C., State Superintendent of Education Christina Grant’s departure.
“Superintendent Christina Grant has dedicated her career to supporting the success of students, from her time as a teacher to her position leading the Office of the State Superintendent of Education in Washington, DC.,” said Carissa Moffat Miller, CEO of CCSSO. “Grant has worked to support literacy initiatives, including expanding access to evidence-based trainings for educators and tutoring for students, and to expand scholarship funding for early childhood educators to earn a degree. Grant’s leadership extends far beyond the D.C., as she generously shares her experience with her colleagues across the country as a member of CCSSO’s Board of Directors. I am grateful for her commitment and wish her the best in her next chapter.”

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, Bureau of Indian Education, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions.
