Washington, D.C. (December 9, 2021) – The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) convened a call yesterday between state chiefs and U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.

Chiefs and senior K-12 education officials from 35 states joined CCSSO leadership, Secretary Cardona and senior staff from the U.S. Department of Education to discuss federal COVID relief funds, teacher and school staff shortages, innovations in assessments, and student wellbeing and connectedness.

Chiefs and CCSSO leadership frequently meet with the secretary of Education and senior department leadership to discuss how best to support the needs of students across the country. We look forward to our continued partnership as we work to provide equitable educational opportunities for all students.
