Washington, D.C. (May 17, 2019) –– The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Executive Director Carissa Moffat Miller issued the following statement on the 65th anniversary of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court Brown v. Board of Education decision.
“The anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education is an important reminder of the brave children of color who began to pave the way for a better education system for all. Today also is a stark reminder that our country still has far to go to achieve this goal, particularly for students of color. I am proud CCSSO is working closely with state education chiefs to advance equity for all students, address the systemic barriers that remain in our current education system and provide every student the right resources at the right moment in their education.”
