Washington, D.C. (March 11, 2019) ––The Council of Chief State School Officers' (CCSSO) Executive Director Carissa Moffat Miller today released the following statement on the President's FY20 budget request.
“While we appreciate the Administration seeking to provide increased funding for school safety and apprenticeship programs, we believe the deep cuts proposed for certain programs in the next fiscal year would hobble states’ efforts to create more equitable education opportunities for every child. Programs such as Title II and Title IV support state and local educators in making sure all students graduate prepared for college, careers and life. CCSSO is committed to working with Congress to shape appropriations legislation that supports all children in public schools across the country and ensures every tax dollar is spent wisely and effectively.”
