Washington, D.C. (September 26, 2018) – The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Executive Director Carissa Moffat Miller released the following statement upon U.S. House of Representatives approval of the Fiscal Year 2019 funding bill for the Department of Education.

“I applaud Congress for passing a Fiscal Year 2019 funding bill for the U.S. Department of Education and other agencies and urge President Trump to sign the measure so states can continue to focus on delivering equitable education opportunities for all students and implementing state plans aligned to the Every Student Succeeds Act. Wise investments in our nation’s schools ensure this work will continue and support states as they deliver a high-quality education to all students. Increases in funding, such as for Title I and career and technical education, will support our efforts to create a more equitable education system.”
