Washington, D.C. (May 16, 2018) -- The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Executive Director Carissa Moffat Miller issued the following statement about the U.S. Senate’s vote today to confirm Mick Zais as deputy Secretary of Education.
“We look forward to working with Deputy Secretary Mick Zais and continuing to partner with the team at the U.S. Department of Education as states work to create a more equitable education for all children. A former state chief will bring an important perspective to this position at the U.S. Department of Education.”

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions.
