Description:  The Chief Communications Officer leads a division of several full-time employees in the Office of Stakeholder and Community Engagement and the Office of Communications and Public Information, setting the priorities for NCDPI’s communications strategies and priorities. The Chief Communications Officer is responsible for shaping the agency's public image, reputation, and stakeholder relationships and the position advises the State Superintendent and the DPI leadership team on matters related to communication and messaging, responding to crisis and strategic communication. This Officer will also manage media relations on behalf of NCDPI and the State Board of Education and is expected to develop strong relationships with media representatives and to maximize media opportunities on behalf of NCDPI. The Chief Communications Officer will work with the Office of Stakeholder and Community Engagement and the Office of Communications and Public Information to develop and track key performance indicators to ensure public relations strategies are achieving the organization’s goals and will lead crisis communication efforts, ensuring that internal and external communications are consistent.   

Salary: $105,991.00 - $238,480.00 Annually
