Washington, D.C. (August 2, 2021) – The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) released the following statement about the U.S. Department of Educations’ Return to School Roadmap.
“State education leaders continue to work tirelessly every day alongside families, educators, and health experts to ensure every child has the opportunity to return safely to in-person learning this school year. CCSSO appreciates the U.S. Department of Education releasing its new Return to School Roadmap, which makes important resources and guidance more accessible for all those involved in our education system, to support them in this effort. Through this roadmap, parents, teachers, and education leaders at the state and local levels now have improved access to clear, consistent information and promising practices in user-friendly formats to help guide important decisions for student learning this year.”

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, Bureau of Indian Education, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues.
