In this time of constant change, state education chiefs and state education agency staff have ably led the charge to ensure safe, supportive learning options for all students throughout the pandemic. We at the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) have been honored to support this vital work. As we look toward the future, we have a new Strategic Plan Framework that will guide our work for the next five years.
America’s chief state school officers are committed to ensuring that all students participating in our public education system — regardless of background — graduate prepared for college, careers and life. By focusing on leading, connecting and influencing education at the national level, we at CCSSO will continue to support chiefs and their staff with the resources and services they need to craft a vision, unlock potential in their agencies and drive change to create equitable outcomes for all students.
Our core priorities throughout these next five years will be focused in three broad areas: Response and Recovery (including ongoing rapid response and assistance with recovery and improvement); Equity, Access and Critical Infrastructure (including work on comprehensive digital access, literacy and high-quality instructional materials and advancing the Leading for Equity Commitments); and Modernizing the Education System (including new education delivery models, updated assessment models and state-of-the-art accountability and reporting.)
