Washington, D.C. (February 10, 2020) ––The Council of Chief State School Officers' (CCSSO) Executive Director Carissa Moffat Miller today released the following statement on the President's FY21 budget request.

“We are pleased the Administration is seeking to increase funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and has shown a continued focus on career and technical education. We also appreciate that the Administration recognizes flexibility for states is important. However, we are concerned the current budget proposes reductions in the funding for critical programs that serve the most disadvantaged students. CCSSO strongly supports the Every Student Succeeds Act. We are committed to working with the Administration and Congress to find the necessary funding, as well as additional flexibilities within funding governed under ESSA, to improve educational opportunities and outcomes for all children.”
