Washington, D.C. (August 4, 2020) – Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Executive Director Carissa Moffat Miller released the following statement about Pennsylvania Education Secretary Pedro Rivera’s departure.
“Pedro Rivera’s impact on public education in Pennsylvania and across the nation will endure beyond his tenure at the state agency. As a state leader and as the President of CCSSO’s Board of Directors in 2019, Pedro put equity for students front and center every day. He championed the need for strong community partnerships to improve the conditions for learning so all students have the supports they need to be successful in school. We wish him all the best in his next endeavor and look forward to working with the new Secretary of Education in Pennsylvania to ensure the success of all students in the Commonwealth.”
