Washington, D.C. (November 7, 2020) – Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Executive Director Carissa Moffat Miller released the following statement about Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.
“On behalf of CCSSO and state education chiefs, I congratulate President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their election. We look forward to working with the incoming Biden Administration and new Congress to prioritize K-12 education, specifically by appropriating the federal aid urgently needed to ensure schools can safely and effectively serve children amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We stand ready to support a smooth transition to a new administration. States are leading in the work of advancing equitable educational opportunities for every student, and we look forward to working with the Biden Administration and other federal partners in advancing these important goals.”
