CCSSO Releases Statement on Colorado Chief

Washington, D.C. (December 20, 2022) – Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) Chief Executive Officer Carissa Moffat Miller released the following statement on the announcement that Colorado Commissioner of Education Katy Anthes will be departing next year.

“Commissioner Katy Anthes has led on behalf of all of Colorado’s students, always keeping their interests at the center of her work. Throughout her 11-year tenure at the Colorado Department of Education, the last six as chief, she has committed to listening to a wide variety of perspectives, promoting civility and arriving at productive decisions that promote student achievement. I have appreciated her service on CCSSO’s Board of Directors and the wealth of knowledge she readily shares with colleagues, and wish her the best in wherever her career takes her next.”

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, Bureau of Indian Education, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. The Council seeks member consensus on major educational issues and expresses their views to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public.
