Google for Education Becomes Lead Sponsor of CCSSO’s National Teacher of the Year Program

Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO)

Washington, D.C. (April 22, 2025) – The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) today announced Google for Education as the 2025 lead sponsor for the National Teacher of the Year (NTOY) Program, a partnership that will bolster the prestigious program’s work to honor exceptional teachers.

"Google is incredibly proud to support the National Teacher of the Year Program. This partnership reflects our deeply shared commitment to celebrating educators who embody excellence and innovation in their classrooms. More than just recognition, we believe it's crucial to actively elevate teachers' voices, ensuring their invaluable insights and experiences are amplified to inspire progress across the entire educational landscape," said Google for Education Vice President Shantanu Sinha.

Each year, states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity and U.S. extra-state jurisdictions identify their state teachers of the year to participate in CCSSO’s National Teacher of the Year Program. This one-year program celebrates the contributions of each teacher and provides them with one-of-a-kind professional learning to expand their impact and leadership. The extraordinary support of Google for Education, which has been a sponsor of the Program since 2016, will contribute to the National Teacher of the Year Program Endowment as well as annual program initiatives.

CCSSO established the NTOY Program Endowment in 2022 to ensure that this special recognition of teachers can continue well into the future.

As a partner of the National Teacher of the Year Program, Google for Education annually hosts the State Teachers of the Year cohort at its flagship campus in Mountain View, California, and has enriched the program in countless ways, including providing dynamic presenters and engaging sessions for convenings.

"I am grateful to Google for Education, an instrumental partner in empowering the National Teacher of the Year Program, the most prestigious teacher recognition program in the country,” said CCSSO Chief Executive Officer Carissa Moffat Miller. “In addition to their dynamic engagement in our program content, Google for Education’s investment in our Endowment moves us closer to delivering on a commitment to carry on the powerful impact of this program for generations to come.”
