CCSSO receives 2026 Top Workplaces Award
Washington D.C. (June 22) - The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) has been named one of D.C.’s 2026 Top Workplaces in the Greater Washington area by WTOP News. To be selected for this recognition, organizations must meet specific criteria based entirely on employee feedback.

That said, receiving the 2026 Top Workplaces Award isn’t a one-and-done achievement,” said CCSSO Chief Executive Officer Carissa Moffat Miller. “Together, our organization will continue to build on a culture where people feel empowered to do their best work to support state education leaders.”
Through an anonymous, comprehensive survey powered by Energage, employees provide their workplace experience in the core themes including feeling respected & supported, enabled to grow and empowered to execute, to name a few.
Highlights of the survey show CCSSO with favorable results in collaboration, transparency and work-life balance. Also among the survey results:

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a nonpartisan, nationwide, nonprofit organization of public officials who head departments of elementary and secondary education in the states, the District of Columbia, the Department of War Education Activity, Bureau of Indian Education, and five U.S. extra-state jurisdictions. CCSSO provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. The Council seeks member consensus on major educational issues and expresses their views to civic and professional organizations, federal agencies, Congress, and the public.
