Washington, D.C. (June 29, 2022) – The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) announced Utah State Superintendent of Public Instruction Sydnee Dickson will join its Board of Directors.

CCSSO Board President Molly Spearman has appointed Dickson to fill the seat vacated by Alaska Department of Education and Early Development Commissioner Michael Johnson. Dickson previously served on the Board from 2018 to 2021.

I am honored to rejoin CCSSO’s Board of Directors,” Dickson said. “CCSSO is a highly respected organization based on the technical assistance and service they provide to state education leaders, as well as their collaboration with other organizations to improve opportunities and outcomes for all students. As state school chiefs, we are working together to lead systems of student success, and CCSSO is a critical partner in making this happen. I look forward to contributing to the work through service on the Board.”

“Superintendent Dickson is a lifelong educator and thoughtful leader, committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure all students have an equitable educational opportunity.
